This is a two session series - first session is in-person and second session is online.

Suitable for;

Academic, teaching, professional services and support staff involved in learning, teaching and/or supporting student learning, including colleagues preparing Advance HE Fellowship applications or other reflective learning and teaching narratives. Open to all staff with an interest in developing a confident, evidence-informed professional voice in reflective writing.

Move beyond description and develop purposeful reflective writing about learning and teaching practice. This practical DELTA workshop supports colleagues preparing Fellowship applications or other reflective accounts of educational practice. 

This interactive DELTA workshop supports colleagues to develop a confident and authentic professional voice in reflective writing about learning and teaching. It is particularly relevant to staff preparing Advance HE Fellowship applications, APAP submissions, accreditation paperwork or other reflective accounts of educational practice, professional learning and impact.

Through short inputs, discussion and guided writing activities, participants will explore how reflective narratives can demonstrate judgement, values, impact and development over time. The session will help colleagues move from simply reporting what happened towards crafting purposeful accounts that make visible their professional reasoning, evidence of effectiveness and future learning.

Course Outcomes/Objectives;

By participating in this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Recognise features of a confident and credible professional voice in reflective learning and teaching narratives.
  • Use evidence, values and reflective analysis to demonstrate impact without overclaiming.
  • Develop reflective narratives that connect practice, judgement, learning and future development.
  • Apply practical writing strategies to Fellowship, APAP, accreditation and other professional learning and teaching reflections.

Relevant reflective writing and Fellowship guidance will be shared with participants in advance or during the session.

Prerequisites

Participants may find it useful to bring a draft paragraph, claim, example or piece of reflective writing from their own learning and teaching practice. Attendance for the full 90-minute session is recommended.

Cancellation Policy

When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50* charge to your Department / School if you do not attend your place on the course. There will be no charge as long as you cancel your booked place before the event or notify our staff at osdu@strath.ac.uk that you can no longer attend.

A Department / School is welcome to send someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge, providing that person has the necessary prerequisites for the course. In the case of courses split over more than one day, you are expected to attend ALL parts of the course.

*This is the standard charge for cancellation or non-attendance of a course of 1-day duration or less. For some courses, there may be a higher cancellation charge and if this is the case you will be advised of this at the time of booking.
