Target Audience: Postgraduate Research Students
This series of Masterclasses will bring together excellent teachers from across the University to showcase effective approaches to teaching and supporting learning, covering anything and everything from high-level commitment to particular forms of pedagogy to strategies for managing classroom interactions and everything in-between. Each session will stand alone and introduce PGRs to an important aspect of teaching practice, focusing on where possible practical application.
This session is led by Dr Fahim Ahmed (Senior Teaching Fellow, Dept. of Management Science), and introduces particpants to a Critical Thinking Framework. This Framework emphasises practical, student-focused approaches to encouraging critical thinking in higher education. It emphasizes interactive and inclusive teaching methods, such as strategic questioning, open case discussions, real time feedback, and emotional intelligence checks. These strategies are designed to boost student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
