Target Audience: PGRs
This practical and interactive workshop equips researchers with the skills to communicate their research clearly, confidently and with impact.
Participants explore strategic storytelling, identifying what makes their research compelling and developing clear, persuasive narratives with engaging openings and memorable conclusions. They learn how to adapt their messaging for conferences, networking events, meetings and other communication settings.
The workshop then focuses on creating effective presentation slides, introducing practical techniques for professional slide design, clear visualisation of data and findings, and avoiding common design mistakes. Interactive activities encourage participants to reflect on what makes presentations effective.
Finally, participants develop strategies for managing Q&A sessions, including frameworks for answering challenging questions, responding constructively to critique, and using bridging and reframing techniques. Through practical exercises and peer interaction, participants build confidence and learn to communicate their research with clarity, credibility and authority.
