Target Audience: PGRs
This interactive masterclass helps researchers understand and develop their own writing style and authorial voice with greater confidence and authenticity.
Participants begin by reflecting on their personal experiences of writing and sharing common challenges. Through practical exercises, they explore different writing voices, compare styles, and experiment with adapting and developing their own approach.
The workshop introduces techniques for strengthening authorial presence and gives participants opportunities to apply these skills to reflective writing, such as progress reviews, research portfolios or career narratives.
Writing sprints and peer feedback provide a supportive space to practise, refine ideas and gain insight into how their writing is experienced by others. By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of their individual writing voice and practical strategies for developing it further.
By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Identify and understand their own writing style and authorial voice.
- Use practical techniques to develop a confident and authentic writing voice.
- Apply writing strategies to reflective narratives, research portfolios and career writing.
- Give and use constructive peer feedback to improve their writing.
