This course will give researchers a solid grounding in the concepts involved in research data management and sharing as well as what the Strathclyde approach is and what practical steps you should take to ensure you are following best practice.


By the end of the workshop participants will have covered at least the following aspects of RDMS:

  • Understanding the concepts of research data management and research data sharing
  • Understanding what data management planning is and how to create a data management plan
  • The external requirements in relation to research data including RCUK funder mandates
  • How Ethics and RDMS relate to one another
  • How to prepare research data for long term storage and/or sharing where appropriate.

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).

You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).

Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
