Target Audience: University staff with direct or devolved responsibility for (Sub) Projects and Budgets

This course explains the way FMS will be used to manage 'Projects' and 'Sub Projects'.

++ Note that this course does NOT cover the creation of Research and KE projects, which will continue to be created in the relevant RKES systems ++

This course will enable you to understand:

• Project types and categories
• how access to Project and Sub Projects is managed and controlled
• the relationship between Sub Project / Project / Main Project
• the structure of the Project masterfiles
• how Projects and Sub Projects are managed: Finance and Department roles
• workflow and alerts
• VAT setup on Sub Projects
• Project and Sub Project status codes
• the enquiries and reports that can be produced for Projects and Sub Projects
• how to set up and maintain Projects and Sub Projects including attaching documents

Prerequisites

• Attend the Introduction to the new Financial Management System (IFMS) session
• View the Introduction to FMS Web (FMSW) video and read the accompanying manual
